5 WORDS THAT WILL ENHANCE YOUR THANKSGIVING

“Remind Yourself to be Thankful.”

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. PSALM 103:1-5

Do you write yourself notes or reminders of things you need to accomplish or things you want to remember to complete? Or are you one who prefers to write down the things you have done after you have done them?

I read a journal entry recently that encouraged me to be thankful. It provided a simple yet personal way to stay in an attitude of thankfulness. Here is the story:

David, one of the heroes of the Bible and a great Psalmist as well, writes a journal entry as a blessing to the Lord. It’s a personal hymn that is celebratory of God’s goodness and in praise of all He has done.

The message that David writes is this:

 “Remind Yourself to be Thankful.”

In Psalm 103:1-5, we read David’s journal entry. What makes his words so unique is that he writes the Psalm to himself; he is the audience to which he writes. David is reminding himself of the goodness of God, of the blessings of God, and of the benefits that God has provided to his life. Listen to his words in verse 2 of Psalm 103, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

David reminds himself to be thankful and then he makes a list of all that he is thankful for. On this Thanksgiving Day, remind yourself to be thankful. And as you posture your heart to be thankful, bless the Lord and forget not all his benefits.

“Remind Yourself to be Thankful.”
