One of the important disciplines in our lives is discerning those who we allow to have influence in our lives. We must balance the command to love and serve others with the responsibility of not allowing those far from God to influence how we live.
Be wise in who has access to your heart. Be guarded and cautious among those who do not know God and those who exhibit no spiritual fruit. Only open your heart to those who display a genuine love for God and for you. When we allow “the fool” to influence our lives, we are likely positioned to step outside of God’s best for our lives.
May our prayer be for wisdom and discernment as we manage the relationships in our lives. May everyone we encounter experience our love and grace, but may our hearts be receptive to only those who are obedient to the Lord.
