Jesus spent much of His time with the very people most of us try to avoid.
He loved everyone but the Scriptures record He spent His time with the hurting, the sick, the skeptic, and those who were living in the grips of sin. He modeled for us a life committed to serving and loving people with the gospel.
In this verse about growing weary, we can easily assign this application to ourselves, assuming the context is for us not to grow weary living our lives our way. But the context is about helping others, serving others, and loving others. As followers of Jesus, we can take the focus of ourselves and put it on others. Relationships are messy and we will at times grow weary in loving and serving those who need our help. Don’t quit, don’t give up, and don’t grow weary. You are never more like Jesus than when you serve and love those who have been overlooked by others. He will give you the strength you need.
